Zachariah, 10/23/97

I watched you two, you two best friends, play and share fond memories together. You, his Master, and Zach, your loyal pooch, were inseparable. Even Zach's vet remarked at how attached he was to you. I remember Zach jumping in the lake this summer, sleeping on the cabin floor, running after a ball or frisbee with his canine friend. If I could recapture those times for you, you know I would. We saw an unexpected change in Zach, and today you said it was time. I knew in my heart it was past time - you had done all you could for him. I tried to find the right words, but there are no words sufficient to comfort you. I hoped that I could express a touching thought or feeling so as to reach out to others who may be suffering in the same way. But you see, each person's hurt is private, unique to their pet...all I can do is be there for you to wipe away the tears. I wonder if your Zachariah is with my Angel now, my beloved Angel whom I lost long ago but whom I hold very close to my heart. I do not believe that these wonderful creatures are brought into our lives by accident, or that there is not a purpose for their existence in our lives. No Bill, honey, it is NOT fair that he had to leave us, but we do not have all the answers. We can only accept things and move on, keeping their memories with us always and knowing that when it is our time, we will see our friends again.. I hope that in some small way I helped you and your best friend. I loved him too. I am here for you.

Linda

Zack, 01/12/97-10/16/97

He was just 9 months old. I believe that losing Zack this way is perhaps the most difficult.
Why would someone want to drive by our home and shoot our beloved pet? He was so sweet and friendly. I told those visiting our home, not to fear our dog. Perhaps his wagging tail may hurt them, but nothing more. It's so hard to accept that he is gone. So senseless. Why?
We miss you Zack and hope you are in a better place.

Zacky~

Seems the years flew by so fast
can it be such time has passed?
Now you've left us, bound for Heaven
We loved you most at age eleven!!

You'll live forever in our hearts...

Zak, 11/23/97

It's only been a few hours since I looked into your trusting eyes and held your head in my hands and said good bye. I think of all that we shared together, a CD, CDX, UD, camps, seminars, obedience trials, therapy dog visits. training in the park, all those walks. You were my first. I learned so much from you...much more than I ever taught you. I think you trained me more than I trained you. I thank God that He gave me the strength to not let you suffer. Your devotion and unconditional love will always leave a warm feeling in my heart. What a good boy! I miss you my Zaker.

Karen

Zannia, 02/02/84-11/16/97

Little one, my Zannia, your were my light, my life, my comfort, and I miss you so much.

Zannia was a happy, friendly, and funny little dog. She loved frisbees, expresso coffee, green squeeky frogs, and convertible rides.

Go in Peace my darling.

Our beloved Ziggy, you are still in our hearts and minds. It's been almost one year since you left us. Please forgive us if we let you suffer in pain one minute more than you needed to. We couldn't let you go and you had to make the decision for us. We will always love you and look forward to the day when we will see your precious face again.

Sweet Ziggy,

You were so brave and good, until the very end. We will always love you and keep you in our memory. Thank you for all the years of love and happiness. Don't let our missing you keep you from moving on. Go straight into the Bright Light, sweet kitty.

Zoe, 05/26/97

This is in memory of Zoe Kelly, a sweet canine friend who went to the bridge this morning. She belongs to very special friends of ours, Barb and Ken Kelly. Zoe lived a long full life for 14 years and brought much joy to her family and friends. We always thought that Zoe looked like a "Disney dog"! She had long white, grey and black fur that covered her eyes, floppy ears and a big smile. Thanks for sharing your life with us and making our world a better place-we'll miss you sweet Z and we know that Casser-pup was waiting at the Bridge to meet you.

Love, Sally and Mike, Abby, Lesley, Maggie, Hannah and Percy

Zubi, 02/08/97

I held you as the black velvet of your ears turned cold and those expressive eyes "stared" straight ahead. Thank you for finding your way into my life for these 5 and a half short years, Zubi. Such little things made such big happiness for you--a visit to "Gramma," a ride in the car, a fingertip on your ear. My heart feels that it will break, or that it already has, now that I've had to let you go. I will love you forever, my sweet Zubidog, forever. Rest well my little guy until we can be together again.

The Boy

There's sadness now, we cry, we weep,
our gentle giant's gone to sleep.
It's quiet, yet we hear his sound,
his feet still dragging along the ground.

He made all welcome, no bark, no growl,
just the largest grin, then he'd fetch his towel.
He asked for nothing but gave his all,
right to the end, to that final call.

When it's time for us to take that final ride,
that fearful trip to the other side,
our journey there will bear no strife,
we know he'll be waiting, as he was in life.

If you've lost your friend, if he's not at hand,
the loneliness you'll understand.
No more will follow, they couldn't compare
to that giant, gentle, big black bear.
