Ubee Thru Utah

Ubee, 03/21/00

We adopted Ubee from our local SPCA when she was 3 months old. She was one of the most lovable/cuddable dogs I've ever had. She loved everyone. She was our faithful companion for many years. When she was diagnosed with bone cancer, I was beside myself with grief. We did as much as we could to ease her pain. The day we put her down was one of the hardest days in my life. I think she knew it's was time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. When the vet arrived, we held her and said our goodbyes. We buried her in our yard, under her favorite tree. I miss her still and look forward to seeing her again when it's my time to cross over.

Umms, 03/10/88-03/26/04

I picked our Baltimore boy Umms off the street in front of the University of Maryland Medical System (hence his name) in September 1988. The animal shelter took a quick look and pronounced him "in shock" and with a "broken pelvis". I decided to take him to the nearest vet instead of leaving him. The vet said he must have been brushed by a car but was not in shock (just hungry) and bruised not broken. I took him home. My mother was coming to live with us after the death in March of my father. She and Umms became the best of friends and grew old together, sharing tea and treats and quilts. Umms always carried a notch on his right ear, where it must have been torn when he was a kitten. He loved the Thanksgiving turkey and would wait hours for it to cook! He slept in my bed for 16 years -- even moved with us to 3 different states.

I always believed somehow that Umms was my father's spirit come to stay a while longer with us. Well, he stayed for almost exactly 16 years -- in the last two months Umms lost weight and then suddenly stopped eating. He had liver cancer -- and then became sick rapidly during his last week. Mother carried him in his blanket for his last ride and stood by while the vet sent him to sleep and he died in my arms. we are waiting now to receive his ashes and keep him with us forever. Umms, you were the best of friends -- smart, generous, lively, loving, funny, and at the end so brave. I know you didn't want to leave us -- and we are heartbroken to lose you. But i didn't want you to suffer. Love you always! Best friends!! See you at the Bridge!! Karen and Florence

I am so very sorry of what happened to you. God be with you please -- he obviously needed you. I just couldn't let you be left in unrest.

You were a beautiful cat, you did not deserve your fate. I pray that you felt the kind hands of your rescuers, and that you are resting now in God's arms. I hope someday when I cross the Bridge you will meet me.

Uno, 02/11/04

Uno my buddy, I still miss you more than I can say. As I sit here my lap is empty, I still cannot get used to you not being around. We were a team and fought everything life threw at us, together. Keeta, Scout, and Tiny miss you to but I think they know you were ready to go. Thank you for visiting me in my dreams. I hope you know that I am so honored to have known you, your spirit and humor have helped me become the person that I am. I wish we would have found each other sooner but the ten years I was given with you mean more to me than anything. Please know that I will see you again. I know Winston, Sheeba, Mouse, The Wolf, and some critters you never met (!) were waiting for you and I know you are safe with them. I love you old man and I will wait patiently until I can see you again- don't worry about anything just play and run and if you want, check in with us from time to time...Love you Buddy

Jamie

Ursula, 06/01/04

To the most special kitty-baby, who chose us.

Ursula, 1998

Ursula was the kitty who taught me how to be an animal lover. She was a sweetie pie, a really tiny cat with extra long gray hair that made her look a little poofy at times. She was shy with new people but super friendly with those she knew. She died of cancer at age 17, and I will always remember and miss her.
